Neutral Character Observations
Today in drama for homework I had to watch 15 minutes of TV to notice what the directer does to the neutral characters. Neutral characters are people in the back who don't attract much attention but make the show look more real. They are kind of blurred in with the wall and other props, and they are not the main characters or even close to that. These are some things I noticed about neutral characters.
- They react to things and usually sit down or talk to someone, or do something reasonable at where they are, for example buying or eating at a frozen yogurt at a Frozen yogurt shop.
- They did't really have a part but sometimes they would do things that attract peoples attention such as staring at the character or pointing, when the main character does something weird or embarrassing.
- All the neutral characters were different, they had different clothes, the way they look, and what they do.
- The directer never focused on the neutral character but always followed the main character where in the side you can see them doing stuff that made it look real.
- The neutral characters didn't have a voice. They usually mouthed or moved their mouth.
